Attorney Profiles

Scott J. Limmer, began his legal career with an internship as a public defender in Broward County, Florida and then went on to become an associate attorney at Goldman & Goldman a personal injury law firm in New York City. After leaving Goldman & Goldman, Mr. Limmer served as an assistant district attorney for Nassau County, where, for three years, he handled a wide variety of criminal cases. In February of 1998, Mr. Limmer opened his own practice, concentrating in the areas of criminal and personal injury law. The firm has since expanded to a full service law firm specializing in criminal, personal injury, family, bankruptcy and civil/corporate law. Mr. Limmer is a former Board member and current member of the Nassau County Criminal Courts Bar Association, a member of the Nassau County Bar Association, the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Born in Queens, he now resides on Long Island, with his wife and two daughters.

Steven E. Shumer. A graduate of Brandeis University (cum laude), Steven E. Shumer received his law degree from Hofstra University School of Law, where he was a member of the Hofstra Labor Law Journal. After graduating, he joined the Law Firm of Anthony D. Denaro, P.C. as an associate where he handled a variety of cases, ultimately concentrating in the areas of matrimonial and family law litigation, as well as bankruptcy law. Mr. Shumer became the firm's managing attorney, where in addition to handling client cases, he was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the office and staff. He remained with this practice for over ten years and then, in 2002, he joined the Woodbury-based law firm, Steinberg, Fineo, Berger and Fischoff, P.C., and formed an association with Limmer & Associates as a counsel attorney. Mr. Shumer concentrates his practice in family/matrimonial law and bankruptcy. He is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association. He is admitted in both New York and Connecticut. Mr. Shumer authors a monthly legal column that appears in over 25 local newspapers across Long Island. He lives on Long Island with his wife and 2 children.
